With the event free on YouTube it's sure to have many casual eyes on it and for my money I think there would be no better way to clearly lay out just how talented the grapplers competing are than to include one non-elite entrant like, say, a longtime blue belt only recently returned from a significant layoff who is also much smaller than the athletes in the field be they naturally or unnaturally enhanced. By awarding one slot to a grappler such as this the CJI would provide valuable context and I guess since we all agree this is a good idea and that, when you think about it, it sure does sound a lot like me, it seems like I'll just have to be the one to do it. In fact, I'm feeling so generous I would even be amenable to disproving the myth that size doesn't matter by enrolling in both fields to show the relative ease of victory by both a smaller and larger grappler for nothing more than the good of the sport and a second entrant's purse. | | | |
