They have had an undefeated record since the Eastern Conference NBA Finals. Donic's effort proved decisive, as the Dallas Mavericks (50-32) secured their first series win against the Boston Celtics (64-18) 122-84 at home at TD Garden.
The last time these teams faced each other was during Game 3 on Wednesday, June 12th where the Celtics were victorious 109-99 at the American Airlines Center. The Celtics looked for a similar result this time around, but the Mavericks side played the unexpected and ran riot, walking off the court victorious.
The Mavericks dominated the first half, stunning the Celtics
The first half was very one-sided, as the Mavericks dominated in the first quarter. The first quarter ended 34-21, with the Celtics trailing by 13 points. For the Mavericks, Luka Donic was racking up the points with 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist. While for the Celtics, it was shooting forward Jayson Tatum leading the way with 11 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist.
The second quarter was a little uneventful as the Mavericks stayed in the lead. The second quarter finished with the score in the Mavericks' favor as the score was 27-14, but in the overall score, the Celtics trailed by one, 61-35. For the Mavericks, it was Donic again providing the difference as he put in 12 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists. And for the Celtics, it was once again Tatum who finished with 4 points, 1 assist, and 1 rebound.
Mavericks dominated the second half, and the Celtics lost out on glory
The Celtics fought hard, but the second half was no different than the first. The third-quarter score ended in the Maverick's favor, 31-25, and the overall score had the Celtics trailing by a crazy 32 points, at 92-60. Donic led the way for the Mavericks with 29 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, and the Celtics again had Tatum lead the way, who now has 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The fourth quarter ended with the Mavericks running riot and stopping the Celtics hopes for an NBA Championship. It ended in the Mavericks' favor 30-24, as the Mavericks secured their first win of the NBA Final series with a final score of 122-84. The Celtics fought and expected an NBA Championship at the buzzer, but couldn't stop the Mavericks' offense. The Celtics fought valiantly in part because of the performance of Tatum, who finished with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Donic was great for the Mavericks as he contributed an impressive tally of 29 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Star of the Game
Point guard Luka Donic is the NBA 2024 Finals Game 4 "Star of the Game" as he racked up a great 29 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. The Union Olimpija and Real Madrid product and 2018 NBA Draft1st round, 3rd overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks was the best player on the court, with his contributions proving to help the Mavericks run riot at Game 4 and stop the Celtics euphoria of an NBA Championship. Donic is proud to have helped his team play a great game and contribute multiple points and assists, he's hoping he can have a similar result next time around. Donic and company are hoping for another great result to give joy and jubilation to the city of Dallas.

The Celtics will now look to continue their untouched, dominant run while the Mavericks look to improve their defensive play and get their first win of the NBA Finals series as both teams now look to Game 2 on Sunday, June 9th at 7 p.m. Central.
