With only one exception this quarter's reading list was all via Kindle or Audible. Nothing beats a physical book, but it is pretty darn close. Books I Read ๐ - Fooled By Randomness by Nassim Taleb is the first book in his 5-part Incerto series. A former trader and risk analyst. This book is about, as the name implies, how we are often fooled by random events.
- When the Game Was War: The NBA's Greatest Season by Rich Cohen was a fun read. I don't even watch the NBA, but I loved Cohen's book The Fish That Ate The Whale so I picked this one up. I became so invested I ended up watching Game 6 of the 1988 finals.
- The Boron Letters you can find for free on the internet, or buy in book form on Amazon. It is a father writing letters to his son trying to pass on everything he learned about copywriting.
- The Wager is a another fun read. It is about a shipwreck off the coast of Patagonia in the 1740s. Mutiny, murder…this book has it all. Above all, it made me grateful to be alive today and not stuck on a ship.
- The Terminal List by Jack Carr is a thriller I picked up after listening to an interview with the author. As I described to one friend, this feels like the male version of a romcom.
Audiobooks ๐๐ป - Never Split The Difference by Chris Voss is part of my annual re-listen list. It is about negotiation, but whether you negotiate or not, this will leave you with better soft skills. The Sections on mirroring, summarizing, and calibrated questions are well worth the price of the book.
- $100M Offers is about making offers for your business that are so good your customer can't say no. Short. Tactical. I already have a couple ideas I've used.
I hope you pick up one or more of these books. Let me know what you're reading! Previous Quarters | | | |
