Are the Boston Celtics historically dominant? All team and player statistics point to the Boston Celtics being exactly that. With a comfortable lead in the Eastern Conference and the best record in the league, Boston is prohibitive championship favorites. Jayson Tatum is one of the top scorers in the league, Jaylen Brown is putting together one of his most efficient seasons, Porzingis is the ultimate X-factor, and the two best defensive guards in the league round out a nearly perfect starting lineup. The starters stats are by far the most well rounded of any team at the moment. Boston is blowing teams out historically often by 15-30 points week in and week out. Is this season actually as impressive as the numbers say?
The Celtics one weakness seems to be the defending champion Denver Nuggets, losing both match-ups this season. Both games were a close game but didn't fall in Boston's favor. Besides that though, they've been cleaning up. Against every other contending team Boston has split or won their games planting their flag atop the league.
When we ask "Are the Boston Celtics historically dominant?", one clear indicator is how the Celtics fair against lesser teams. Powerhouses like Milwaukee have beaten top teams but will lose in devastating fashion to bottom feeders such as Charlotte and Detroit. Not the Boston Celtics though. Their most recent win over the lowest rated Washington Wizards was a 30 point victory, thus avoiding upsets. The bench, which was early on a point of worry for Celtics fans, has spent much time on the court together during these blowouts now appearing as a strength for the team. Payton Pritchard has continued his bucket getting ways starring as the sixth man. This team shows little weaknesses and the numbers back that up.
Liam comes to the panel with team statistics and Jaylen brown numbers to bounce off his co-host. He rattles off the numbers to let Connor decide if the Boston Celtics are historically dominant.
