I've thought this season of The Bachelor has been great, and Joey's been the best Bachelor by far that we've seen in years! He's been incredible as the lead, making the right decisions every time he's had to and really not making any mistakes. Tonight we have the season finale of what's really been a great season and I SOO hope Joey gets his happy ending and finds the love he deserves. He's down to his last two ladies, Kelsey and Daisy. They both have been great all season, and Joey's already told both of them that he's falling in love with them. Will he get his happy ending? It's time to find out. I already pregamed, and my drinks are poured. Let's GO!
We start the night out in the LA Studios as Jesse says that what happens has "never happened before" and the cameras even show Rachel and Gabby laughing at that statement together. Every season, its the most dramatic season in Bachelor history.
Talking to his parents and sisters, Joey tells them that it's been difficult for him to ask the ladies to give it their all and everything when he's going to be the one to take it away from one of them.
Daisy is the first girl to meet Joey's family. Daisy tells Joey's family about how he supported her when she told him about her hearing and health issues. His sisters ask Daisy about if she is in love with him, she tells them that she is in love with him and that if he proposed, she would absolutely say yes. Joey's mom asks Daisy a very interesting question first of "what makes you unique?" which she answers is that she is very resilient. She starts crying and tells his mom that although its so scary that it may not be her at the end of this, that she had to give it her all and that Joey's worth it. All in all, meeting Joey's family goes fantastic for Daisy.
Now its Kelsey's turn, who I think Joey sees more of a future with. Talking to his sisters, Kelsey doesn't have as solid of an answer when they ask her if she's ready to get married to Joey yet, which is clearly a big fear of Joey's. There's definitely more doubt it seems to Kelsey and Joey from both her side as well as his family's. Kelsey talks about how Daisy's great and that it could still be Joey and Daisy, and not her and Joey at the end of this. Joey's mom then brings up that during Joey's hometown with Charity he said that he thought it was him and Charity but if it wasn't he cared about her that much that if it wasn't him, that she would be happy. This makes it feel way more like its Daisy, but at the same point, that just makes me think that he picks Kelsey at the end of this.
Daisy has the first final date with Joey as well, which has he says is either their last date ever or the first date of the rest of their life. They start their date with a spiritual type of date, which I always think is a weird date when they do it every season, especially for a final date. Part of that whole ceremony, Joey tells her that he wants the best for both of them, even if it isn't him and her. Which I think is a very telling sign that he is going to pick Kelsey, which sucks for Daisy. On the evening part of their date, Daisy tells Joey that no one in his position has ever handled it with so much grace, love, and kindness towards anyone and that he should be so insanely proud of that. What she just told him was such a BEAUTIFUL statement, and it really encompasses how good of a lead Joey was this season. I can only hope a perfect lady at some point will tell me something that deep. Daisy then tells Joey that not only is she falling in love with him, but that she is in love with him. Joey voices to her how awful it felt for him when he was in that position and Charity chose Dotun over him, which is very understandable. But, as Daisy says, it feels like he's very much setting her up for the let down, which makes me feel SO bad for her. Like it feels like although he says he's the most conflicted he's ever been, it feels like it's Kelsey that is his decision. Daisy even tells the confessional…
"If I'm being 100% honest, I don't think it's me"
That's sad to hear, and if that is the case, I hope Daisy (not Maria) is the next Bachelorette.
Now, Joey's last date on his journey to find love that The Bachelor really is, with Kelsey. Their date starts with a relaxing spa date. At the night portion of their date, it feels like the opposite way, with Kelsey expressing her fears of if its not them at the end of this thing and Joey trying to console her on that she shouldn't be worrying about it. Which makes you really think that he's going to pick her and not Daisy. I feel the same way about Kelsey as Daisy in that if Joey doesn't pick her, she should be the next Bachelorette.
I still want him to pick Daisy though and watching her get ready is still so sad. Before the proposals even start though…Daisy goes to knock on Joey's door. WHAT!?
But it isn't Joey's door…it's Kelsey's. Don't think that's ever happened before. It absolutely hasn't happened in the last several years of me watching this series. Daisy asks Kelsey how her week went and she tells her that it felt like meeting his family was a bit difficult, with them asking hard questions but their date went good with her getting a lot of validation. Kelsey asks the same and the answer is the opposite with meeting the family going great, but not getting the validation. This might be one of the most heartbreaking conversations I've ever seen on any show in this franchise. Even with all the breakups through the seasons, this is tough to watch.
This finale is fucking incredible.
Onto the Final Rose. What we've all been waiting for…and BOTH ladies are in the same car together, supporting each other. The first time we've ever seen that!!!
THEY'RE IN THE SAME FUCKING CAR?!?! WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?!?
This has 100% NEVER happened before.
Daisy walks up to the Final Rose platform by herself, as expected for the one that isn't going to get picked. After Joey tells Daisy her thing and she pours his heart out to her, she says "but the thing is, you're not going to choose me". HEARTBREAKING! I teared up a bit watching that. Literally the perfect goodbye for a final rose. What a mature, incredible way for Daisy to go out of this thing. MAKE HER THE BACHELORETTE IMMEDIATELY!!! What an incredibly strong girl. She deserves the world. Daisy declines Joey's offer to walk her out, walks herself out, and gives Kelsey a big hug and tells her that her mom is going to be looking down so proud. Not a fucking shot in hell they can make Maria the next Bachelorette after that. No way. It's Daisy. 100% and she deserves it more than anyone!!
Next up, Joey tells Kelsey that this has been such a difficult journey, but that there's nothing difficult about choosing her and that he's in love with her. Joey proposes and Kelsey, of course, accepts.
"Kelsey, will you accept my final rose?"
Back to the LA Studios. Joey joins Jesse on the hot seat. First up to join Joey is Daisy, looking absolutely gorgeous, to talk about how she knew that she wasn't the one at the end. Daisy talks about that in the final rose ceremony he saw how Kelsey and Joey looked at each other and she knew, and that she knew that at their final date, that she shouldn't have felt as anxious as she was. I think it was the first time I've ever seen someone who wasn't the one at the end, talking about how it felt good to watch back again because it gave her the validation that it wasn't her. Takes someone very strong to be able to voice that and it really exemplifies Daisy's character.
Joey is now joined by his finance, Kelsey, on the hot seat. Joey and Kelsey gush about their feelings for each other and when they knew that it was then. Such a great couple.
Now who's our next Bachelorette?
Daisy joins Jesse on the hot seat and he brings up the key quote that she said in the back of that Suburban on her way out of Mexico…
"If I can love the wrong person this much, how much could I love the right person"
Jesse asks her whats next for her and if she's ready to open up again and date again and find her person.
She shocks everyone and says, that no, she isn't ready, and that she's really proud of herself for realizing that.
So is it Rachel or Maria as the next Bachelorette?
But first, Kelsey joins Daisy on the hot seat. They talk about Daisy's decision to go talk to Kelsey on that final day. Daisy says that it was the final confirmation and clarity that she needed to step aside and let Kelsey and Joey finish their journey in the right way. Such a mature way to end this thing. Kelsey makes an incredible statement too that it isn't a competition and that it's about finding who's right for each other.
Charity, the last Bachelorette, joins Joey on the hot seat to announce who the next Bachelorette is…and it is….
Jen!
I didn't really expect that, but I also think she's a very good decision for that. Not what I expected, but I think she's a good choice.
