Of course when I bumped the size of my plays yesterday, I got crushed on the NHL, going 1-5 to lose 5.68 units (including two wins that I had in regulation only). After a fully loaded weekend of games, tonight we have just a quick two game slate with two solid matchups. Let's get a win!
Blues vs. Golden Knights (8:00)
Interesting Western Conference matchup in this game that could end up not being a great game. The Blues are having a disappointing season, most likely missing the playoffs, but they're playing well right now. Coming off a 5-4 overtime win in Minnesota on Saturday, they've won six of their last seven games. Although their defense has been good, their offense is horrible. The Golden Knights are playing well right now too, in the second Wild Card in the West, but just two points back from the Kings for third in the Pacific. They've won five of their last seven games, coming off a 4-2 win against the Blue Jackets on Saturday (big win for me). These teams split their first two games this season, with the Blues winning 2-1 in overtime in Vegas in December and the Knights answering back with a 6-3 win two days later in St. Louis. The Golden Knights are the better team here, and I like them to win tonight on the road. I'll take Vegas for half a unit. I'd lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Canucks vs. Kings (9:00)
Fantastic Pacific Division matchup here. Both of these playoff teams are playing really well right now. The Canucks lead the Western Conference, and come into tonight's game on a three game win streak after a 4-2 win at home against the Flames on Saturday. The Kings, who are in third in the Pacific, two points ahead of the Knights and three back from the Oilers, are playing great right now too. Coming off a 4-3 overtime win against the Lightning on Saturday night, they're on a three game win streak as well with an 8-3-1 record in their last twelve games. These teams split their first two games this season, both winning on the road, a 5-1 blowout win for the Kings on leap day in Vancouver, and then a 2-1 overtime win for the Canucks in LA on March 5th. With Thatcher Demko still out for the Canucks, I'd lean the Kings win this one. I'd slightly lean the over as well, but I think the best play on this game is to just stay off it entirely.
