2024 Season Preview
So now you know of all my playoff teams after reading my prior blogs. If not, what the hell are you doing? Click here to catch up on all the important information on what your favorite teams did and how their 2024 will look. For now, I will give my prediction of who will be in the Championship Series and who will advance to the World Series and win the whole damn thing. Also, I will be giving out other prop bets I like for the 2024 season. So, with that, let's get into the blog.
Now if you're an ass and didn't read my blog, the TLDR for how I believe the division will go is:
National League:
- Dodgers
- Braves
- Cubs
- Phillies
- Diamondbacks
- Mets
American League:
- Astros
- Orioles
- Twins
- Yankees
- Rangers
- Blue Jays
NLCS: Dodgers over Braves
This should be a fun NLCS. Atlanta will finally be able to get over the hump and make it back to the NLCS. The way I have the NL playoffs set up, the Braves will avoid the Phillies, which will help them win the NLDS for the first time since 2022. The only problem is they have to play the Dodgers next. The Dodgers will steamroll the NL this playoffs as they return to the World Series.
ALCS: Orioles over Astros
I think I was a little mean to Baltimore in my season preview, but they're going to be an awesome team in 2024. I'm buying all the stock into the Orioles, as they will make their first World Series since 1983. It will be difficult because Baltimore will have to face either the Yankees or Rangers in the ALDS and then the Astros in the ALCS. It's going to be a gauntlet, and I believe in this young core.
World Series: Dodgers over Orioles
Now I feel bad. I think Baltimore will have spent so much effort getting into the World Series, and Los Angeles will have the easy road. It's really hard to go against the Dodgers this season. We like to get our jokes off about the Dodgers, but this has to be the season they win their REAL World Series. Ohtani, Betts, Freeman. Do I need to say more? It sucks that the Dodgers will win it after the bullcrap cheating they did this offseason, but it will happen. Just accept the fate, and it will hurt less in October/November.
Best Bets:
Los Angeles Dodgers to Win 2024 World Series +350 (1.5u)
I just spoke about them and glazed them enough. On paper, no one should beat them; I just hope they don't burn me.
Baltimore Orioles to Win American League Pennant +550 (1.5u)
Again, I just wrote about it. I love this Orioles team, and I'm putting my money where my mouth is.
New York Mets to Win World Series +3500 (1u)
I'm a Mets fan, and I have to bet on my team to win the World Series.
St. Louis Cardinals u84.5 wins -115 (2u)
This is a bet I am very confident in. In no world are the Cardinals going to come close to 84 wins. The only moves they made this offseason were extremely old veterans. Their hope is Paul Goldschmidt can return to form after a down year in 2023. Even if that does happen, the team around him and Arenado is not very good.
Juan Soto o35.5 Home Runs -110 (1u)
If you read my NFL Season preview blog, I took one bet from my friend Chris, who gave me Tony Pollard over 1000 rushing yards. It came down to the last game, but it hit, so I took another pick from him, and it was Juan Soto's home runs.
Pete Alonso o42.5 Home Runs +100 (1.5u)
Let's go with the Yankees' cross-town rival for the next bet, as Pete Alonso's home run total is plus money. Pete Alonso is playing for a big contract this season, so I expect big numbers with his home runs.
Cody Bellinger o24.5 Home Runs +120 (1.5u)
Cody Bellinger rose from death last season, having a fantastic 2023. I expect no different for this season, as he will hit over 30 home runs.
Zack Wheeler o190.5 Strikouts -115 (1.2u)
Zack Wheeler's strikeout numbers being below 200 seems like a good bet to me. Since 2019, not including the COVID-19 season, Wheeler has hit over 190 Ks in three of the last four seasons. As long as Wheeler stays healthy, he will do it.
Zac Gallen to Win NL Cy Young +1400 (2u)
Zac Gallen had a great year last season and came so close to winning his first Cy Young. Finishing 3rd in voting, I think this will be the year he gets it. I also love the value I'm getting with Gallen, who is one of the best pitchers in the NL.
A bet you SHOULD NOT MAKE is on Shohei Ohtani to win MVP. With him unable to pitch this season, his batting stats alone should not be able to win him MVP. That's all I have for MVP bets because I don't like any of the MVP picks.
Everyday Bet: Chicago White Sox to Lose
I got this idea from PFTCommentor, who bets on one team every season to lose their games. I love this idea, and this season, I'm going to do it myself with the White Sox. One unit a day, and with how bad the White Sox are, you will make money on it.
That's all I have. I love baseball, and I cannot wait for tomorrow. Also, if you're a Mets fan, I will write a full breakdown and prediction blog on the Mets and a weekly blog series for the whole season.
