We Take A Look At The Met Gala's 2022 Knockouts

There's red carpets, and then there's the Met Gala.

Year after year, the Met Gala delivers what many consider to be the largest congregation of celebrities and fashion icons under one roof, making it fashion's most significant night. There's no telling who will show up wearing what, and there's no telling who will make the boldest statement of the year. All we do know is, there's no bigger stage for designers and their celebrity avatars than the Met Gala.

In years past, names like Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga, Kanye West and the late Chadwick Boseman have taken the red carpet and made it their own. Designers pull no punches when it comes to the big night. Every year has a theme, and this year's theme seemed to be a little ambiguous and perhaps didn't land as well as many would have liked. The theme, 'gilded glamour' ensured the striking red carpet steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art shimmered against the lavish gowns, dresses and outfits worn by the 2022 attendees. As Shakespeare once said, "We know what we are, but know not what we may be." While this may have meaning to most it bears no meaning tonight. Everyone knows exactly who they are, and what they will be. It's a choice that weighs heavy on the mind sparing no fine detail, ensuring each thread hits its mark. As far as designers are concerned, Thom Browne stole the show, while Louis Vuitton notched many of the night's outfits and accessories. Who else other than Kim Kardashian, stole the show wearing Marilyn Monroe's 'Happy Birthday Mr President' dress worth over $4 million.

While outfits and dresses hold some importance, it's the person who must finish the perfect look; like a conduit protecting live electrical wires, the dress is only half of the equation. One must stride with ideal confidence and convey fierce yet soft smiles as the cameras snap and flash like fireworks on New Year's Eve. It's a culmination of work made by teams upon teams—stylists, makeup artists, tailors, and walking instructors all come together to ensure their chosen celebrity is etched in the rich history of the Gala.
