The Minnesota Wild hosted the New York Islanders on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Minnesota entered the game on a two-game winning streak, while the New York Islanders looked to extend their five-game winning streak with a win in this game as well.

While the Islanders scored first, it wouldn't be enough. The Wild used a big third period to surge ahead and win the game, 5-2.

During that big third period, they scored four times. Ryan Hartman, Brandon Duhaime, Jonas Brodin and Matt Dumba scored the goals for the Wild during the third period. Nick Bjugstad also contributed a goal during the second period for Minnesota.

Dumba, Duhaime and Hartman also contributed an assist each, as the trio all had two-point nights. Kaapo Kahkonen started for Minnesota in net, stopping 19 of 21 shots to earn the win.

Anders Lee scored both goals for New York. Mathew Barzal contributed a pair of assists as well in the losing effort. Semyon Varlamov stopped 34 of 37 shots on goal but took the loss in goal in his Islanders' season debut. Zdeno Chara also contributed an assist on New York's first goal.

The loss ends New York's five-game winning streak as they fall to 5-3-2 on the season.  The loss also ends New York's seven-game points streak.  Their next game is Thursday, November 11, 2021 at New Jersey.
