The Tennessee Titans (7-2) lost their star running back Derrick Henry to a foot injury last week. Their first test without Henry came in the form of the Los Angeles Rams (7-2) on the road.

No Henry, no problem.

The Titans' defense stepped up big time as they forced 2 turnovers and sacked Matt Stafford 5 times. Ryan Tannehill threw a touchdown and rushed for a touchdown as the Titans beat the Rams 28-16.

With the win, the Titans extended their winning streak to 5. They also moved to 6-0 against teams that made the playoffs last season.

Dominance From Titans in LA

With Derrick Henry on the shelf, the Titans needed other players to step up. The entire defense decided to do so.

They chose a great game to step up as the Titans were up against a Rams team with a great offense.

Jeffery Simmons dominated. All 3 of his sacks came in the first half as he overwhelmed the Rams' offensive line. The great pressure lead to mistakes from Stafford.

Stafford's first pick came when Simmons nearly sacked him for a safety. Stafford tried to throw it away, but it was picked off by David Long and returned to the 2-yard line. Ryan Tannehill would hit Geoff Swain for a 2-yard touchdown on the next play.

On the Rams' next play, Kevin Byard picked off Stafford and returned it for a touchdown. Byard's pick put the Titans up 14-3 early.

Tannehill would rush for a one-yard touchdown with 2:15 remaining in the first half to put the Titans up 21-3. The  Titans came out and made a statement in their first half of football without Derrick Henry.

The offense was able to do enough and the defense was stifling in the first half.

Stafford and the Rams looked better in the second half but still struggled to finish drives. They were able to add 2 field goals to cut the lead to 21-9 at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Adrian Peterson would punch in a touchdown from 1-yard out to put this one away. Peterson's first touchdown of the season put the Titans up 28-9 with just 3:06 to play.

The Rams were able to add a touchdown in garbage time, Stafford found Sony Michel for a 3-yard touchdown with 31 seconds left.

What's Next?

The Titans proved the doubters wrong on Sunday night in LA. They also proved they are a team to be reckoned with.

They will head back home next week as they host the New Orleans Saints (5-3). The Titans will look to extend their winning streak to 6.

The Rams will look to bounce back on the road in San Francisco against the 49ers (3-5) next Monday.
