When Gernot Rohr leads the Super Eagles out against Liberia in Tangier for the Group C encounter of the World Cup qualifying series, he will become the coach with most matches with the Nigerian national football team.

The match will be the 53rd game of the core Super Eagles under his watch. It could have been the 54th but the friendly game with Mexico where a largely home based players were fielded is not counted.

By the calculation of the Sports Village Square, Rohr's 53 match card is one above that of Clemens Westerhof and equals that of Amodu Shuaibu who had four spells as Nigeria's manager.

Rohr, employed on 5 August 2016 has as today spent 1,927 days (five years, three months nine days)  on the saddle – 140 days more than that of Westerhof.

He is under contract till 31 December 2022 – a period covering till the end of Qatar 2022.

If he qualifies the Super Eagles, he becomes the first coach to qualify the team to two World Cup editions and consecutively too.

His score card so far read: 52 matches. Nigeria under Rohr won 25, drew 13 and lost 14 including the 4-0 loss to Mexico in which he was drafted as a last minute replacement to Austin Eguavoen.
