There is too much focus on players like Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark. Although they are unbelievable talents, they are not all that women's college basketball has to offer. With so many incredible players not receiving the recognition they deserve, with the 2021-2022 season starting on Tuesday. Here are some names you should get familiar with from each major conference.

Big East

Lauren Park-Lane

The 2020-2021 Big East Most Improved Player is one of the most electrifying basketball players. Do not let her size fool you. This 5'6 junior guard is an absolute beast. Her speed and aggressiveness make her the ultimate competitor.

Last season she averaged 17.5 points, 5.4 assists and 1 steal per game.

Get your popcorn ready, Lauren Park-Lane is going to have an outstanding season.

Sonya Morris

Sonya Morris is a walking bucket. The DePaul guard can get you a quick bucket and also shoot the deep ball. Last season, Morris led the Big East in free throw percentage and finished third in scoring, three-pointers, three-point percentage, three-point attempts and field goal attempts.

In the 2020-2021 season, Morris averaged 19.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while averaging 36% from behind the arc.

Big Ten

Veronica Burton

The 2020-2021 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year is one of the country's best defenders. Victoria Burton is someone that can wreak havoc on both ends of the court.

Last season, Burton averaged 16.2 points, 4.5 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game. On top of that, she averaged almost 4 steals per game. She is an incredible all-around talent and should have an astounding season.

Ali Patberg

Ali Patberg is one of the purest shooters in the country. This journeywoman has faced a lot of adversity in her college career as the 2021-2022 season will be her seventh collegiate basketball season.

She averages 15.2 points per game in her career while shooting 45% from the field and 35% from three. 

Big 12

NaLyssa Smith

NaLyssa Smith is one of Baylor's most decorated athletes. Just click the link to get an idea of how incredible the 2020-2021 season was for Smith.

This 6-foot-4-inch forward is a force on the court. Smith is a super-efficient shooter, averaging 18 points on 56% shooting from the floor and 79% from the line. Smith is also a rebounding machine, leading her team with 8.9 rebounds per game last season.

Smith should have an unforgettable senior season for the Bears.

Ashley Joens

Ashley Joens is one of the country's purest scorers. Joens can score in so many different ways. She can get buckets from inside and from behind the arc.

Last season, she averaged a school-record 24.2 points per game while shooting 46% from the floor and 35% from three.

Coming into her senior season, expect Joens to have an iconic season for the Cyclones.

SEC

Rhyne Howard

(Kentucky Wildcats)

At the top of all of the 2022 WNBA mock drafts sits Rhyne Howard, one of the most complete hoopers in the country. Howard is a terrific ball-handler who can get a quick bucket. She is also a lockdown defender who can block shots and force turnovers.

In the 2020-2021 season, Howard averaged 20.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.

Look for Howard to lead Kentucky to an incredible season and be on your favorite WNBA team in May 2022.

Rae Burrell

Rae Burrell is a freak of nature. Her speed and long frame give her such an advantage, allowing her to work over the top of defenders to get a quick bucket. Burrell is also a tremendous defensive end. She can force a turnover at any time and is due for at least one steal per game.

Last season, Burrell averaged 16.8 points per game while shooting 45% from the field, 40% three and 82% from the line.

Pac 12

Sedona Prince

Yes, the girl from TikTok is one of the most intriguing college basketball players. The 6-foot-7-inch forward is coming off her first full collegiate season where she averaged 10.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. She also led the Ducks with 29 blocked shots.

Prince may have a small sample size only starting in 10 games last season, but she has the potential to be one of the most dominant bigs in college basketball. 

Mya Hollingshed

One of the smoothest basketball players in the country, Mya Hollingshed, plays with so much ease it looks like she is not even trying. Her 6-foot-3-inch frame allows her to shoot over almost anyone. Last season, she averaged 15.4 points while shooting 45% from the floor.

Hollingshed is also a beast on the boards, last season averaging 7.8 rebounds per game. On top of that, she can do everything on the defensive end, picking up at least one block and one steal per game.

ACC

Elissa Cunane

This 6-foot-5-inch senior center is an all-around talent. Cunane's frame makes her unstoppable on both ends.

Offensively, she is a career 54% shooter from the field, averaging 15.3 points per game. She is also not afraid to shoot the deep ball. She is a 40% three-point shooter in her college career.

Defensively, she averages 8 rebounds a game and almost one block per game.

Cunane should be a double-double machine this season for the Wolf Pack. Expect them to have a very successful season with Elissa Cunane leading the way.

Lorela Cubaj

Lorela Cubaj is a 6-foot-4-inch Italian forward who is a double-double machine. Last season, she was second in the ACC in double-doubles with 14 on the year.

Cubaj is the perfect big. She can get you points down low and get boards. Last season, she averaged 12.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.

She is also a big defensive presence, being a part of the ACC All-Defensive Team last season. She was due for at least one block and steal per game.

Cubaj will be a huge factor in Georgia Tech's success this season. Expect the Yellow Jackets to have a big season in 2021-2022.
