PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Philadelphia Eagles have made it a habit to surprise people. Last week, the Eagles were the underdog against a winless Detroit Lions team. The Eagles shocked the world that Sunday, destroying the Lions 44-6.

This Sunday, the expectation for the Eagles had shifted. The Los Angeles Chargers had not been hot as of late. However, with Justin Herbert as their quarterback, they were still the clear favorites heading into the matchup with Philly.

However, Philadelphia forced the game to go down to the final seconds. Still, the Los Angeles Chargers were able to use a last-second field goal from Dustin Hopkins to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-24.

Big Day for Hurts

Jalen Hurts matured a lot in this game. Hurts threw for 162 yards and a touchdown, racking up an excellent QBR of 115.3. Hurts was a force on the ground, rushing for 62 yards on 10 attempts. He was poised in the pocket and helped lead a surprisingly effective Eagles offense. As a team, the Eagles had 331 total yards. No player had a larger hand in the Eagles' offensive success than Jalen Hurts.

The Eagles are in an odd spot after this recent loss. Two weeks ago it was suspected that the Eagles may potentially tank. However, after today's game, it is clear Philadelphia should try and push for a playoff spot. Even though they lost, the Eagles played great.

Key Players

Justin Herbert was a key factor in the Chargers' victory. Herbert was nothing short of magnificent on the field today, throwing for 356 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for a TD as well. Herbert also had one of the biggest plays of the day as he rushed for a first down on a crucial 4th down and 1. This conversion eventually led to the Chargers getting the game-winning field goal.

Keenan Allen had a big day, finishing with 104 yards. The former XFL player Donald Parham Jr. caught a touchdown from Herbert, finishing with 3 catches for 39 yards. Herbert also found his tight end Stephen Anderson for a score as well.
