Troy Williamson: "He's never fought anyone who hits as hard as me."

Williamson Confident Ahead Of His Fight Against Ted Cheeseman

Undefeated super-welterweight contender Troy Williamson (16-0-1, 12 KOs) will face Ted Cheeseman (17-2-1, 10 KOs) on October 9 for Cheeseman's British title on the Liam Smith vs Anthony Fowler undercard.

Speaking to FightPost, Troy shared how his early preparations have been for arguably his toughest test of his career:

"Training is going well, I'm in a good place and I can't wait to get rock n rolling!

"It's just a case of polishing up a few skills, I don't think I need to improve on anything for this fight."

Williamson, labelled as the 'Trojan', is confident he can see the chinks in Cheeseman's armour:

"I think he takes quite a lot of punches and with 10-ounce gloves and you can only take a certain amount of punishment.

"He's never fought anyone who hits as hard as me and I don't think he will stand there and take punishment for 12 rounds."

Fighting on the undercard of Smith vs Fowler at the Liverpool Arena, when asked upon who he sees as the winner of the main event Williamson struggled to split the two

"I'm on the fence, I think it's a 50-50 fight if I'm honest. I can't pick a winner; some days I think Fowler and some days I think Smith.

"It's a clash of styles and will make a very good fight. I'd love to fight them, but I believe the winner will go onto a world title eliminator next."

The last time he was in the ring was in April, when Williamson stopped Kieran Smith (16-1, 7 KOs) in the sixth round in what was his 12th stoppage victory to date.

A win this Saturday for Williamson would secure himself as a worthy British champion, but could also open the door to bigger fights in the future.

"I'd be very proud to win the British title and it will be like a dream come true. Every British fighter wants to do it and I've got the chance to do it on 9th October.

"I believe I'm one or two fights away but it's the ultimate dream to become a world champion.

"I just need to turn up because I believe I'm the best super-welterweight already domestically."
