NFL Week 6 wrapped up with another monster game from Titans running back Derrick Henry, who is arguably the most dominant force in fantasy right now, and now it's on to Week 7. This article will cover The Professor's low-cost options for DFS in the upcoming slate of NFL action.
Quarterbacks
Ryan Tannehill, KC @ TEN, $7600 FanDuel, $6400 DraftKings
Ryan Tannehill and the Tennessee offense were clicking on all cylinders in Monday Night's win over the Buffalo Bills, and the poor performance of Tennessee's defense makes it likely Tannehill will be in another shootout against Kansas City. Running back Derrick Henry is the engine that makes the Tennessee offense go, but Tannehill and receiver A.J. Brown are a dangerous complement, and the Chiefs have no shortage of issues on defense.
Matt Ryan, ATL @ MIA, $7300 FanDuel, $5700 DraftKings
Receiver Calvin Ridley wasn't available for the game against the Jets two weeks ago, which allowed tight end, Kyle Pitts, to put his immense talent on full display. With Ridley returning, Ryan has a deep cast of weapons and faces a Miami defense that has struggled this season and has to play without a bye after last week's trip to London. The Atlanta offensive line isn't great, but Ryan should be able to overcome that this week.
Carson Wentz, IND @ SF, $6700 FanDuel, $5400 DraftKings
Carson Wentz had an efficient, low-volume outing in Indy's win over Houston last Sunday, but should have to do more against San Francisco. The 49ers' weak spot on defense is at cornerback, so Wentz should be looking to hit Michael Pittman and T.Y. Hilton for big plays. Wentz looked healthy this week and continues to gain familiarity with his new team; I'll bet on the Colts to move the ball this week.
Lead running back Antonio Gibson is dealing with a shin injury; he may play, but McKissic should have an expanded role in this game. McKissic was already likely to see targets as the receiving back in a game where Washington is likely to be chasing the score against Green Bay, but Gibson's injury opens the door for an expanded role, and McKissic has shown he can be productive when he gets the ball.
A.J. Dillon is coming off his weakest fantasy outing in several weeks, but even in last week's game, he racked up 59 rushing yards on 11 carries. Receiver Davante Adams and running back Aaron Jones are Green Bay's top skill players, but Dillon is third on the priority list for the Packers, who have one of the NFL's best offenses. There are few other options at this price point that have a prominent role in a top-end offense.
Darrel Williams is at a higher price point than McKissic or Dillon but is likely worth the extra money relative to options such as Arizona's tandem of Chase Edmonds and James Conner, as Williams is the clear-cut number one in Kansas City with Edwards-Helaire out. Williams contributes in both the run and pass game and he's matched up with one of the NFL's worst defenses in Tennessee; he should provide great value at his price point.
Henry Ruggs, PHI @ LVR, $5700 FanDuel, $5500 DraftKings
Denver's Jerry Jeudy, the fourth in the quartet of Alabama receivers drafted in the first rounds of the 2020 and 2021 NFL Drafts, was off to a terrific start before a high ankle sprain and could join the rest of the group on this list when he returns in the next few weeks. The other three are all playing well; Jaylen Waddle's average depth of target is low, but he is elusive after the catch and gets a lot of volume, Devonta Smith is the lead target for a Philadelphia team facing a Las Vegas defense with issues at cornerback, and Henry Ruggs has been hitting on explosive plays for Las Vegas on an increasingly frequent basis. Any of the three could make a huge impact at their price point this weekend.
The Tennessee Titans played a great game on offense Monday Night, but their defense continues to be among the worst in the NFL. Hardman has gotten opportunities behind Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce this season, and with new addition Josh Gordon taking some time to acclimate to the offense, Hardman could be on the receiving end of multiple explosive plays in what profiles as a shootout between the Chiefs and Titans.
Rookie Kyle Pitts is not at a particularly low price, but if his performance in London is any indication, he may never be at a price this low again. Pitts matched all the pre-draft hype as a silky smooth route runner with the speed to stretch the field; receiver Calvin Ridley will be back this week, but the Atlanta offensive staff has likely spent every spare moment since the game in London scheming ways to get Pitts, Ridley, and running back/receiver/all-around offensive weapon Cordarrelle Patterson all involved in the flow of the offense. The depth players behind that trio in Atlanta will likely have limited opportunities to make an impact.
O.J. Howard, CHI @ TB, $5200 FanDuel, $3400 DraftKings
O.J. Howard caught six passes for 49 yards and a touchdown against Chicago last week and has taken on an increasingly larger role in the weeks that fellow tight end Rob Gronkowski has been out. Howard came along slowly at the start of the season as he rehabbed from last year's torn Achilles, but he appears to be rounding back into form as we approach the midway point of the NFL season and should continue to get opportunities to contribute.
