Red Sox rookie first baseman Bobby Dalbec had a huge month of August and was named AL Rookie of the Month. Over the course of the month, Dalbec smashed seven home runs and drove in 21 runs. The 26-year-old slashed .339/.431/.774 over 24 games in August.

The month of August was Dalbec's coming out party this season quieting his doubters. Dalbec struggled mightily to begin the season. That fueled speculation the Red Sox could trade for a first baseman at the trade deadline. The Red Sox were heavily connected to now Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo.

Ultimately Rizzo went to New York for two prospects and the Sox traded for Kyle Schwarber. Both players have worked out well for their prospective teams. Meanwhile, Dalbec is finally coming into his own in the month of August and will look to carry that momentum in September.

Bobby Dalbec remains hot at the plate in Tampa

The Red Sox are looking to earn a series split with the Rays in Tampa. After Jarren Duran provided the game winning hit in Wednesday night's game, Dalbec came out swinging on Thursday night.

In the first inning, Dalbec singled to right field scoring Hunter Renfroe to plate the Sox first run of the game. Following striking out in his second at-bat in the third inning, the hot bat of Dalbec would strike again. He would send a base hit into right field scoring Schwarber to give the Red Sox a 4-0 lead.
