The Red Sox made a minor move on Saturday night to add more pitching depth. The club announced they have signed right-handed pitcher Michael Feliz to a minor-league deal.

The righty was DFA'd by the Reds about a week ago but has been on the injured list. Feliz hasn't pitched since June 6 when he was hurt with a right elbow sprain.

In 16 games this season, Feliz owns an 8.79 ERA in 14 1/3 innings. Those statistics come from his time with Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.

The 28-year-old has always been able to strike opposing batters out. Feliz will be challenged with staying healthy and attempting to limits walks while on the mound. He has a 9.9% career walk rate and a 15.6% career home run rate.

Michael Feliz is additional depth

Feliz has pitched in 222 Major League games since his career began in 2015 with the Houston Astros. He will be reunited with manager Alex Cora.

Potentially Red Sox pitching coach Dave Bush can harness his skills.

The move adds additional depth to the upper minors for Boston. Feliz is added insurance for the bullpen in case someone goes down with an injury or relievers continue to struggle.
