The news of last week is without a doubt the second coming of the joint GREATEST OF THE GENERATION, Christiano Ronaldo. Well his papers are not yet in order for him to come to England but what a cast of Portuguese players this match would have produced had he been part of it. No doubt the fist half belonged to the home side, the United midfield which had Pogba and Fred looking lethargic against the quick counter attacks spearheaded by Adana Traore and Trincao. Two players for United had their first ever starts, Jadon Sancho and center back Raphael Varane. It is the Frenchman whose impact was felt the most, his ball distribution and positional awareness was the catalyst for the clean sheet which United ultimately got. Shades of another former United french defender Laurent Blanc. Now Ole can rest easy knowing there is a defender capable of moping up behind Maguire who is more prone to attack and leave his position. Sancho was poor, not because it was his fault , some players take time to acclimatize than others to this demanding league.

Wolves will rue the lack of cutting edge upfront in this match their third straight 1-0 defeat. Raul Jimenez is a shadow of the player he was before that nasty head injury last season. Trincao, yes he can dribble but he has yet to convert that into goals and assists yet. Their most impressive player was Moroccan Saiss. He is a double threat defensively and attacking wise. He had the best chance of the match when his header and follow up was thwarted by the rejuvenated David De Gea. It was more like the De Gea of 5 seasons ago. At the end a contentious moment separated the two sides. A loose ball was challenged by Portuguese Ruben Neves and Paul Pogba with the later missing the ball completely. Paul looked to have missed Neves too but the Wolves man went down like he was struck by a machete, ref waived his appeals away. The play immediately after the incident resulted in young striker Mason Greenwood firing the winner for the away side. He is the player I am looking forward to seeing partner CR7 and he has scored in every game thus far for the red devils. A win United scarcely deserved with a performance as dodgy as the designer of their away attire of this season.
