The Indian ladies's hockey team registered one of its largest wins in records by starting Monday with a lovely 1-0 win over three-time champions Australia 1-0 to reach their maiden semifinals in ladies' hockey at the Olympics in Tokyo.

Gurjit Kaur proved to be India's hero as she scored her maiden Olympic goal in the twenty second minute to place India in the ultimate-four of the Tokyo video games wherein they'll face either Argentina, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, or Great Britain.

India defeats Australia 1-0 in women's hockey to advance to the first semifinals in Tokyo 2020.

Gurjit scored via a penalty nook, a first for India in this Olympics and the first conceded via a computer by way of the Hockeyroos.

India, one way or the other, managed to preserve their lead from there onwards, denying wave after wave of assaults from Australia to finish with a hat-trick of wins. Argentina beat Germany by three-zero in the first quarterfinal on Monday.

This is India's third win in this Olympic marketing campaign after Ireland (1-zero) and South Africa (4-three). They'd opened their campaign with three successive defeats to the Netherlands (1-five), Germany (zero-2) and outstanding Britain (1-4).

This is India's largest win in girls's hockey because the crew played within the Olympics for 1/3 of the time and had struggled to reach the knockout rounds, completing fourth in Pool A.

The Indian ladies' hockey crew's fine finish at the Olympics got here on debut in Moscow in 1980 when they ended fourth in the six-group competition.

Earlier on Sunday, the Indian men's team also reached their first-ever semi-final at the Olympics after registering a stunning splendid Britain three-1 in the quarterfinals. India will take on world champions Belgium in the semifinals on Tuesday.
