The key to winning a Time Trial is having an appropriate bike, light in weight, low handle bars, narrow wheels and maintaining a level speed thought-out the race. Belgium's Van Aert did all that , averaging 5tkm per hour in a great race in which he won in Stage 20 of the Tour de France. He was 21 seconds ahead of Denmark's Kasper Asgreen who rode a race of his life in finishing second with his compatriot Jonas Vingegaard finishing third. He is all but assured of a podium finish in the general classification the first from his country since 1996. Barring a major crash or illness or whatever, Tadej Pogacar should win his second successive Tour De France, the Slovenian finishing eighth in the Stage.

I must say the organizers chose the best part of the Tour to have a time trial, when the riders are tired from three weeks of racing to test out the leg strength and endurance.Stefan Kung had a poor ride by his standards, pretty uneven speed during the course of his race, especially after finishing second in the first TT of the Tour.
