Joe Rogan explains why he interviewed Conor McGregor after the latter broke his leg fighting Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

Joe Rogan got his podcasting on with Conor McGregor at UFC 264.

Some have criticized Rogan for interviewing McGregor shortly after he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 (watch here), which took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV on Sat., July 10. Rogan, who served as a commentator and post-fight interviewer on the broadcast, said it was McGregor who initiated the interview.

"People are like, 'why did you interview him?' He actually brought me over," Rogan explained on a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. "He goes, 'Come over here lad, let's have a podcast'. He said, 'Come on Joe let's have a f—king podcast'. He asked me to sit down next to him. I was like, 'How am I going to do this? I feel like I should just get something out of him.' Even if you recognize the fact that he is emotionally charged up, this is just him expressing himself while he was emotionally charged up."

An emotionally charged McGregor denied Poirier checked a kick leading to the break and added fuel to the fire of their rivalry.

"I was boxing the bleeding head off of him, kicking the bleeding leg off him. This is not over. If I have to take this outside with him I will. I don't give a bol—cks!" McGregor said of Poirier during the chat with Rogan. "Your wife is in my DMs. Hit me back baby!"
