Just in time for the end of Melbourne's lockdown 5.0. 400 Gradi is bringing Naples to Mornington.
Pizza lovers rejoice. The famed pizza made by Australia's best pizza chef Johnny Di Francesco is bringing his mouth-watering margherita and loaded cheese pizza to the shores of the Mornington Peninsula. If you dine anywhere in Melbourne, you'll quickly understand there's no shortage of Italian-inspired eateries. The challenge has become knowing where to go, and where you will experience a premium Italian feast without paying a fortune for it.
Lucky for Melbourne residents, not only is lockdown 5.0 done and dusted as of 11:59pm tonight, but 400 Gradi will be taking bookings at its newest installation. The Mornington Peninsula, come summer, is a haven for dining, drinking, and swimming. All our favourite verbs! To that end Johnny Di Francesco thought it would be best to bring his world-wide and world-famous pizza to the locals along the peninsula. A taste of Naples in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula.
It may be a little different to the time Warner Brothers called Johnny to create a Ninja Turtles special cheese pizza, but this highlight may just be up there with some of Johnny's greatest achievements, and let us tell you—he's had a few. The man was crowned the king of margherita pizza from his homeland in Italy. The world's greatest margherita was made right here in Melbourne by Johnny. While the eatery will be seaside, naturally there will be a stronger focus on seafood dishes. The produce will be sourced from the peninsula, while you eat away at a slice of pizza, you'll also have views of the bay and an opportunity to delve deep into Gradi's 12 flavours of gelato.
We had the honour of speaking the Johnny Di Francesco on the Original Ballers podcast. Johnny's love for pizza comes from family, tradition and flavour. It's what separates him from the rest. To use the cliche, made with love, would be one way of distinguishing Johnny's recipe for success. The other sits somewhere in between his ability to adapt in trying times, and to always think ahead.
The main issue you may find eating at 400 Gradi on the peninsula is choosing what to eat. Wood-fired sourdough, salumi and pasta packs are also available to take home, making the 400 Gradi experience more than just a dining one. We know what we're doing this weekend. We think we have sorted you at also. To make a booking you'll have to get in quick. The details are below. Oh and one more thing..."Buon appetito".
400 Gradi Mornington reopens on Wednesday July 28.
