I Am Ready To Donate 6 Months Of My Salary Tells Build Factories, Not Cathedral - Afia Pokua To Nana Akufo-Addo

A Ghanaian radio and television journalist, Afia Pokua has boldly said that she is ready to donate her six months salary to support the government to build factories, not Cathedral.

Afia Pokuaa popularly known in the media as Vim Lady is a Ghanaian media personality and the Head of Programs at the Despite Media Group, operating Peace FM, Okay FM, Neat FM, Hello FM in Kumasi.

She made this statement today Saturday 31st July 2021 on critical issues, a program hosted by Afia Pokuaa on United Television.

As a reminder, His Excellency, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on February 8, 2019, at the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC, called for support to construct the National Cathedral of Ghana.

Before this launch of fundraising of the National Cathedral of Ghana, on December 28, 2018, the President in a similar event made a personal donation of ¢100,000, a demonstration of his commitment towards the building of the Cathedral.

The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta during his mid-year budget review on Thursday, July 29 2021 appealed to Ghanaians to help the government with the building of the proposed National Cathedral by donating a hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 100) every month.

According to Afia Pokuaa, the idea of President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and his government to build a Cathedral for Ghana needs to be given a second look since its benefits cannot be compared to building a factory that can employ millions of the youth of this country.

There are many unemployed graduates out there who are seeking jobs to do which in the long run comes back to benefits the country and reduce the social vices among some youth.

I think that donating my money to build a factory will be of important than using it to build a National Cathedral, She added.
