Last night, I totally forgot that it was NYE. Passed out on the floor around 9PM. Wife woke me up counting down. Asked me if I had any resolutions. Not really. I don't do those.
Been kind of a shit year. I suppose any year when your favorite dog dies is going to be a pretty shit year. Aside from that, Wife had to get surgery and I injured myself. On the bright side, we also had guests from Toronto and Cali come and visit us. That was a lot of fun.
I also hit some milestones. Before my injury, I managed to get up some hills I previously could not, and ran 10km in under 50 minutes. I also finished my classes -- though I have not yet, technically graduated. My credits are, hopefully, being transferred as we speak. Numbers are in - got through school with a 4.0. Not that it matters, but, all the same, I did that, and that's something, I guess. The school even mailed me special pieces of rope.
As an odd development, I even started submitting some short-stories to sci-fi markets again. So far, everything has been rejected. That's how that generally goes. And the sci-fi market seems particularly bleak. Even fewer markets than I remember. As far as markets where I might be a fit? That's pretty slim pickings. So I dunno if there's any point trying.
If I decide to keep doing this, I more want to aim at zine type things.
As far as resolutions go, just about everything I do that might pass as a resolution, I either need to do or want to do anyway. Get a job, continue to learn Korean, keep running, get one or two more linen suits for the summer. Also have another novel I want to finish. I would like to be able to run all the way up Jangsan, and am just starting my training to do that.
But, right now, main thing for me is waiting. Waiting for those credits to transfer, to get my diploma, to get a job. That'll be my real NYE. I'll have a better idea what my year will look like once I get a job and some money under me.
