This short review doesn't have any major spoilers!
That's a Lot of Sand
Dune is about Paul Atreides, the son Duke Leto, who has visions of a woman from the future and must ultimately prove his worth in order to save his family. The movie begins with Duke Leto realizing there are advantages to ruling Arrakis. This means increased access to spice on the desert planet. After arriving on Arrakis, House Atreides meets Fremen fighters and learn how dangerous sandworms can be when harvesting spice. The enemy of House Atreides is House Harkonnen and soldiers have plans of their own to keep in power. Of course, fighting ensues and Paul needs to prove himself not only to his mother, Lady Jessica, but most of all his father who wanted peace. Dune has a nice blend of mythical creatures and mental abilities with futuristic looking aircraft. It reminded me of old meets new or past meets future.
Who is What and Where
There's been a few adaptations on Frank Herbert's novel, but this version was directed by Denis Villenueve and written by Jon Spaihts, Denis Villeneuve, and Eric Roth. Part one of his action, drama, and sci-fi movie is two hours and 35 minutes and rated PG-13. Besides the great cinematography by Greig Fraser and music by Hans Zimmer, the cast was equally great. Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides plays a convincing confident but not ready dutiful son. Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica plays a disciplined mother to Paul. Oscar Isaac as Duke plays Leto Atreides. Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck and Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho plays Paul's training mentors. Stellan Skarsgård plays Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. Dave Bautista as Beast Rabban Harkonnen plays nephew of Baron Harkonnen. Zendaya as Chani plays a young Fremen woman. Charlotte Rampling plays Reverend Mother Mohiam Emperor's. Javier Bardem as Stilgar plays the leader of the Fremen tribe. Babs Olusanmokun plays Jamis.

Parting Comments of Dune
There definitely is going to be part two and whether it will be a trilogy is anyone's guess. Part one ended not on a cliffhanger, but it was clear in which direction Paul Atreides wanted to travel. The second movie should be out in later 2023. For the casting of Zendaya, I believe she will have a bigger role later. The character I hope shows up again is Baron Harkonnen. Most of the scenes were necessary, but I would've liked to seen more training between Paul and his mentors and fighting between House Atreides and Harkonnen.

Move over Duke of Hastings, it's now Anthony Bridgerton's turn to show his worth to London and keep his family relevant among the families eager to take their place. While Duke of Hastings doesn't make an appearance (disappointing many fans), his wife, Daphne does and sometimes their son who doesn't care for her sister, Eloise. Where season one ended with Eloise helping the Queen find out the identity of Lady Whistledown, season two starts with Queen Charlotte holding a debutante ball to find another diamond to charm and entertain her. While Eloise is a part of this debut, it is Edwina Sharma who captures the attention of suitors including Anthony Bridgerton. Over planned dinners and inevitable meetings, Edwina's sister, Kate, continues to find Anthony unsuitable for her sister. She greatly disapproves of Anthony's fraudulent engagement to her sister and does her best to prevent it from happening. While all of this jockeying for power between Anthony and Kate continues over Edwina, Lady Danbury (Senior Ambassador) and Violet Bridgerton (Dowager Vicountess) have plans of their own. By the wedding day, the Queen is disappointed in more than one Bridgerton and due to this, Portia Featherington (Dowager Baronness) tries to elevate her standing in society. If she can't do it through marriage of her daughters, then she'll try in other ways. The friendship of Penelope Featherington and Eloise Bridgerton turns sour when Eloise takes interest in Theo Sharpe. A show like this has a lot of scheming and plotting. Season three is going to a great battle between two overlooked girls turning into women as much as it will be about the corgis.
I give Bridgerton Season 2 FOUR FINGERS and ONE THUMB at 95%.

I really didn't know what to name my JET so I chose something that happens to people, regardless of their age, sex, nationality, and more. People don't get everything they want even if they say they have in life. This never happens all the time. We don't get what we want all the time. Some people don't get half of what they want in life. Others get only 1/4 of what they want throughout their lives. Whether you see life as half-empty or half-full depends on the situation you're in and how you react to it depends on many things. How powerful is your resolve? What do you fall back on when you're stressed besides eating and sleeping? What steps do you take to pull yourself back up and get into the game (no matter how shitty it seems)?
I remember making mention of getting older on a blog and while I am getting closer to the cusp of the beginning of the last 50 years of my life (doesn't mean I will live that long), no one told me about how common autoimmune diseases and arthritis is among people. Most people don't think about it when they are in their 20s unless it affected them during this time. While my arthritis started in my forties, I'm convinced my autoimmune symptoms started in my mid-thirties. While it's somewhat comforting to know I'm not the only one, it doesn't lend much help for the pain I feel and the aggravation of being tired, inability to sleep, numbness on my body, dry eyes and mouth, and inflammation.
Honestly, I don't really feel let down because as I get older, I realize things said to me aren't exactly the truth and things people will say to me aren't going to be done. If someone says they will call me, they don't always do. If someone says it doesn't matter, most likely it does. Anyone except those rich billionaires and millionaires really don't have anything to worry about when it comes to simple things like day-to-day living and the cost of things. Sure, they might have kids to take care of but it's not the same thing as a single or even two parent household. It's just not. These last four years seem pointless in many ways. It doesn't feel I've learned much. It doesn't feel I've contributed anything great. The life I once knew or thought I knew was crisper, brighter, fulfilling, and tolerable. Now, it's not so much but I hope to get there again on many levels (financially, socially, creatively, mentally, spiritually).
How many people have lost their sparks? Lost their hope? Don't give a shit anymore? Avoiding problems? Doesn't care about others like they used to? I suppose we all go through this mindset. It's sort of thinking the majority of people don't want me around, think I'm less of a person, would rather see me dead. It's sort of knowing this and then carrying it around like a dead weight, like a poison, like something you'd love to insert into a dart and throw at those who have wronged you. Now more than ever I've learned to rely on myself more and a select few who understand me. I've distanced myself from people who no longer makes sense to me because my perspective has made a minor shift again. This is where I am right now. How about you?
