On November 11, 2017, ABS-CBN took to Twitter to confirm that boy group #Hashtags member Franco Miguel Hernandez Lumunlan, who was professionally known as Franco Hernandez, has died by drowning. He was 26.
"Franco Hernandez from the group #Hashtags (from It's Showtime) died this afternoon after drowning," the network tweeted. "Franco went with co-Hashtag member Tom Doromal to Tom's resort in Davao Occidental. Franco's management, Cornerstone management, confirmed this report."
A strong wave reportedly hit the motorized banca carrying Hernandez, his girlfriend Janica Nam Floresca, his fellow #Hashtags member Tom Doromal and two others while they were on their way back to the coast of North Lamidan, Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental, Davao Region, Philippines. This was said to have caused Hernandez and his girlfriend to fall off.
Two of the banca's crew members rescued Hernandez and Floresca. But when Hernandez's body was recovered, he was already unconscious, ABS-CBN News has learned.
Hernandez was brought to Estacion Medical Clinic in the neighboring town of Malita. In the clinic, Hernandez was declared dead on arrival by Doctor Nimayre Macabaya, Bandera reported.
On February 12, 2017, Hernandez was introduced as one of the new members added to #Hashtags. The other new members were "It's Showtime" host Joey Marquez's son Vitto Marquez, former child actor Bugoy Cariño, "Pinoy Boyband Superstar" alum Wilbert Ross, model Maru Delgado, CK Kieron, Kid Yambao and Rayt Carreon.
